With the assistance of Freedom Energy Logistics, First Point Power has been selected by The City of Salem, MA to supply electricity to its 200 municipal accounts for the next 3 years.
The contract begins in December of 2021 and will run through December of 2024. To cover its nearly 9.5 million kWH annual usage, the city of Salem purchased a combination of Class I MA Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and National Wind RECs. The REC purchase will result in a Green House Gas emissions reduction equivalent to removing 1,450 passenger cars from the road for a year.
Salem’s voluntary investment in accredited renewable energy MA Class I RECs covers 5% of its annual metered usage with additional green RECs and 95% with National Wind RECs.
First Point Power is proud to support the City of Salem’s commitment to sustainability. Said Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll, “…changing our nearly 200 municipal electrical accounts to renewable sources for our electricity supply, is a major step toward our climate goals and reducing our local contributions to climate change.”
